The onsen was really great, on the second night I had it all to myself for over an hour! And I was surprised to find out I had meals included in my reservation, unexpected treat!
It wasn't inexpensive but still acceptable.

The onsen was a serene oasis for relaxation.
My experience at Yamagisi Ryokan was quite disappointing. Upon arriving, I noticed a bad smell lingering in the entrance, a mix of curry and mold that was off-putting. The air conditioning in my room barely worked, taking over an hour to make any difference in temperature. Additionally, while the ryokan had two onsens, one was in poor condition, with outdoor tubs suffering from significant disrepair, which detracted from the overall enjoyment.

I enjoyed the hot spring baths, especially the one with a view of the lake. It was a great way to unwind after a busy day of exploring. The location worked well for me as it was close to the ropeway and had a convenience store nearby. Having access to free Wi-Fi in common areas was a nice touch for staying connected, even if I’m not traveling alone.
One side of the hot spring had a small outdoor area that needed maintenance, which was disappointing. Additionally, the check-in experience felt a bit unfriendly, making me feel unwelcome at first.

I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious and spotless room I got. The shower and toilet were really modern. The onsen was a fantastic way to relax after a day of exploring, and I also enjoyed a soothing foot massage that was just what I needed. On the downside, the Wi-Fi connection was a bit spotty, but that didn't ruin my overall vibe. 😊

The Japanese-Style Room was cozy and felt authentic with tatami mats. The view of Lake Kawaguchi was beautiful, but my room didn't give a peek of Mt. Fuji. The amenities were basic but enough for a comfortable stay. The onsen was a great way to unwind after a day out, though I had some issues with an old hot pot that got swapped for another not much better. Overall, it felt really special to experience Japanese culture here.
